Create

Orion Land is a property development company and we create profit for our investors and shareholders. We believe in creating visionary developments, and social and economic wellbeing for the communities we serve.

Engage

A sense of place and a sense of home lie at the heart of what we design and plan. The health and well being of our new communities is fundamental and in particular, we work closely with landscape designers to deliver open spaces with trees, flowers and pathways where people feel safe and at ease.

Challenge

We are clear that the key to making developments successful in a challenging climate is to mitigate risk at every step through innovation and best practice.

Legacy

Authentic engagement with the community and the design team means listening and responding. When the community buys into your long-term vision, they become project champions and, more importantly perhaps, project guardians.

Orion Land and Leisure

In 2017 US-based Cortland Partners, one of the world’s largest Multi-Family Build to Rent owners and operators, formed a strategic partnership with Orion to work together to establish a UK BTR pipeline which Cortland would then own and operate. Cortland’s first UK landmark development is Orion’s 500 unit scheme in Watford which will be completed in Q2 2022. Planning for phase 2 will be submitted in Q3 2022. Cortland is also taking developments forward in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, and London. They have also acquired a management company to operate some 40,000 units.

With over 30 years’ experience in the property market and in addition to having recently gained a full understanding of the BTR sector, Orion Land is now focusing its love of securing deals and achieving planning consents for the wider market. The team is currently working with investors to acquire projects of significant scale as part of its nationwide strategy, as well as working with a contractor developer to secure a portfolio of sites within the London area.

In addition to their role as developer, Orion also act as skilled advisors to national and local government, public bodies, charities, private landowners and fund managers. Drawing on their 30-year experience of the UK planning process and by bringing their creative approach to placemaking, Orion are well positioned to offer professional advice and innovative solutions to site development.

King Charles Homes

June 2020 Orion formed a partnership with King Charles Homes (KCH), a newly established company which identifies and acquires small to medium planning and development opportunities in Greater London and the Home Counties. The KCH strategy will be to first achieve planning gain through its established relationships with local authorities and expertise in planning and subsequently the Board and investors will decide whether to sell the site following a successful planning consent or, alternatively, to partner with an established small to medium housebuilder.

KCH has expanded quickly and has numerous sites under contract either by way of option or unconditional purchase. Towards the end of 2021 planning was approved and forward sales agreed for sites in Maidenhead and Weybridge and in early 2022 the company are acquiring further planning and development opportunities in Winchester, Teddington and Barnes.

Really Local Group

In 2019 Orion invested in a strategic partnership with The Really Local Group, a start-up company founded by Preston Benson.

Having worked together with Preston on several projects, including Orion’s Shepherds Bush Market, there was clear synergy and shared values between Orion’s skill in achieving urban planning and The Really Local Group’s vision to bring leisure, entertainment and local food concepts to regenerate failing High Streets.

RLG’s ability to create and restore cultural infrastructure through re-purposing and renewal of UK high streets can be seen at Catford Mews, opened Sep19 and the second venue, Reading Biscuit Factory in Sep21. Work has already commenced on the third venue in Ealing and the opening is planned for Easter 2022. The planned roll-out of a further four sites across greater London are at an advanced planning stage and all due to open within the next two years.
